Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 2 cups finely shredded cabbage
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package of dumpling or wonton wrappers (about 30 wrappers)
- Water, for sealing dumplings
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a large bowl, combine ground pork, shredded cabbage, green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Assemble the Dumplings:
- Place a dumpling wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling into the center of the wrapper.
- Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wrapper.
- Fold the wrapper in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch and pleat the edges together to seal tightly. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Fry the Dumplings:
- Heat a large skillet or non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
- Place the dumplings in the pan in a single layer, flat side down. Leave space between each dumpling to prevent sticking.
- Fry the dumplings for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Steam and Crisp (Optional):
- Carefully add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and immediately cover with a lid. Steam the dumplings for 3-4 minutes until the water has evaporated and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve:
- Remove the lid and continue to fry the dumplings uncovered for another 1-2 minutes, or until the bottoms are crisp and golden brown.
- Transfer the fried pork dumplings to a serving plate. Serve hot with dipping sauce such as soy sauce mixed with rice vinegar, chili oil, or your favorite dumpling sauce.
Note: You can also boil or steam these dumplings if you prefer a softer texture. Adjust cooking time accordingly if using different methods. Enjoy your delicious fried pork dumplings!
